‘Future Wakefield’ Architecture Exhibition @ 13 Westgate
Leeds Met Architecture students will be presenting an exhibition entitled ‘Future Wakefield’ at 13 Westgate, Wakefield, (near the Cathedral and Ridings entrance). The work on display will feature images, models and digital presentations of work produced by students pursuing the M.Arch. / P.G.Dip. (RIBA Part 2) and B.A. Hons. (RIBA Part 1) in Architecture at Leeds Metropolitan University.
All the projects are based in the Wakefield District. There will also be a section of the exhibition devoted to smart materials and new developments in architecture such as parametric modelling and computer aided design and manufacture in architecture (cad/cam).
Some examples of projects that will feature in the exhibition include:
‘A New Way to Travel’ (New train station and integrated zeppelin airport, near Wakefield City centre)
‘Cannabis, the New Coal’ (regeneration of a former pit village using cannabis and geothermal energy to reinstate and develop all the former amenities which made mining communities successful in the past).
