Two Academies

At the Academy of Urbanism congress in Glasgow I bump into George Ferguson, architect, former RIBA president, and inspired speaker, recognisable from any distance due to his habit of always sporting red trousers. It’s a stroke of luck because I’d like him to join Julian Dobson as a speaker and facilitator at our first Orangery Academy event in Wakefield on 7 June, ‘What’s The Big Idea?’ He readily agrees—- and in fact is coming to the city the day before to visit the brand new Hepworth Wakefield, which opens next Saturday. On the 7th Beam is also co-hosting an open invitation reception with the Academy of Urbanism, which will include a walkabout, a talk by George, and some nice summery nibbles and drinks. Two Academies joining hands!  Why not join us?
