Illuminate
Beam: Imagination and participation in the public realm
Starts: May 21 2011 10:00am
Ends: August 12 2011 4:00pm
Where: The Orangery, Back Lane, Wakefield, WF1 2TG
An exhibition celebrating Beam’s creative activity in architecture, art, training, and education over the past 10 years—- dedicated to all those people we’ve worked with and those we will work with in the future.
The exhibition explores Beam’s creative approach and range of projects, with an eye to the future of public spaces and places throughout Yorkshire and beyond. It covers Beam’s activities in public art, community participation and leadership support, continuing professional development and knowledge-sharing. In the past decade Beam has engaged with hundreds of artists, architects, councillors, and professionals in local government, education, culture, health, and regeneration, and ‘ordinary’ citizens of all ages. People are at the core of our work.
Over the next few months The Orangery Gallery will play host to an array of photographs, films and commissioned artwork alongside other media, charting Beam’s unique spread of activities and interactions from Wakefield to London, Finland, and Japan.
