Be a Stand-up Comedian in a Day
Starts: February 12 2012 11:00am
Ends: February 12 2012 4:00pm
Where: The Orangery, Back Lane, Wakefield, WF1 2TG
Mark, who started as a stand-up comedian in Wakefield and who has added journalist , author, documentary maker and social activist to his cv, will run a day long workshop for young people, teaching them how to tell their stories through comedy.
The aim of the day will be to show people how their experiences and observations of life are rich material for performance. By the end of the day we will have produced either a performance or a video.

The current political and economic climate hits young people hardest and the media coverage tends to blame the victims for the crime of being born in difficult times.
This will be the first of a series of events organised under the umbrella of ‘neat’ aimed at giving young people in Wakefield the opportunity to communicate their stories in a variety of ways. David Peace and Joanne Harris have both committed to this project.
Look out for the ‘neat’ website launching in 2012.
