Starts: June 29 2011 6:00pm
Ends: June 29 2011 8:00pm
Where: The Orangery, Back Lane, Wakefield, WF1 2TG
The President and committee of Wakefield Civic Society invite you to join them for the launch of their latest publication – Wakefield, City of Sculpture and Public Art.
Arranged as a walking tour of sculptures and other works of public art, this useful guide gives details of some of the many items of interest that can be seen in and around the city centre.
The Society are delighted that local sculptor Harry Malkin has agreed to talk about his work, one piece of which features in the booklet. In addtion, Robert Powell, Creative Director of Beam will also be speaking at the event.
Why not come along and enjoy a glass of wine and pick up your free copy of Wakefield, City of Sculpture and Public Art?
There will also be an opportunity to find out more about the work of the Civic Society and to have a look at their other booklets, Wakefield, City of Spires, Towers and Turrets, and the Blue Plaque Trail guide.
Please note, that as spaces are limited, the Civic Society would like to request that you book your place in advance.
To confirm your place or to ask any questions you may have, please email Kevin Trickett of Wakefield Civic Society.
Car parking: There is only disabled parking on site but there are car parks close by (some of which are free after 6.00 pm but do check!).
This is a free event but donations to the Society are always welcome.
