A summer programme of professional development events for the Yorkshire region, exploring the latest thinking and activity in place-making.
The Orangery Academy focuses on key issues relating to policy, community involvement, design and the arts in response to the current and future challenges and opportunities of place-making. This programme is brought to you by Beam in collaboration with IntegreatPLUS (previously Integreat Yorkshire).

Achieving Design Quality: Where Next? - £65
The final event in the Orangery Academy Summer programme will explore how, in the face of commercial imperatives and huge changes involving CABE, the Regional Development Agencies, and other key players, good design can still be promoted? By whom, with whom, with what resources and with what evidence of benefit?
A chance for everyone who cares about design quality from a professional, community, or personal perspective - to take part in finding viable ways forward.

Tom Lonsdale, Owner, Placecraft - Key issues in a national and local perspective on the future of good design

The Academy sessions will:
- Begin with a light lunch
- Be creative, informative and informal
- Be open to Local Authority officers & members, arts and built environment professionals, community leaders, activists & anyone interested in finding out the latest thinking in placemaking
- Include innovative case studies
- Facilitate discussion, debate, networking and knowledge-sharing
- Inspire and equip participants to tackle the current challenges in place-making
- Conclude with afternoon cream tea in The Orangery Gardens!
