Beam is supporting the voluntary Markham Vale Heritage Group & Derbyshire Council to develop a historically significant walking trail to remember 106 miners who lost their lives in 3 major disasters at Markham Colliery.

The project has been accepted onto the Aviva Community Fund Crowdfunder to generate donations to specifically commemorate Arthur Roper, aged 61, whose grandson is still living, he was only 6 when his grandfather died.

Donations can be made by online card payments for any amount and Aviva employees will be able to top up public donations through the company scheme! Our target is £2,100 to install one new commemorative figure as part of the trail.

Acceptance onto the Aviva Community Fund Crowdfunder is a fantastic opportunity to support another commemorative figure for the trail.

The crowdfunder launched on Tuesday 16 February and runs until Wednesday 17 March 2021.
