We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded  a £15,000 Grants for the Arts to deliver this years Lit Fest – Talking Loud and Saying Summat!

Beam is proud to be working in collaboration with A Firm of Poets to programme the festival. The funding will support 2 weekends of activity between Saturday 23 September and Sunday 1 October 2017 delivering the following ‘themed’ days of activity:

 

  • Sat 23 Sept: ‘Poetry for the People’ – A day of poetry and spoken word.
  • Sun 24 Sept: ‘Beautiful Minds’ – A day dedicated to writing and wellbeing with performances, workshops and debates. (In partnership with Word Life, Dreamtime Creative and Wakefield Well Women Centre)
  • Sat 30 Sept: ‘We Need To Talk About Music’ – A day of writing, conversation, music and argument. (In partnership with the Louder Than Words Festival)
  • Sun 1 Oct: ‘Wakefield Rising’ – A dedicated day for the city’s creative’s to showcase their work.

We want to enable local creatives to have an opportunity to be a key part of the festival and will dedicate the ‘Wakefield Rising’ day to this. As we have done in recent years we will have a small seed fund pot to support those who wish to participate on this day.
