We are delighted to announce Beam’s appointment as Creative Producer for an artistic programme for the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site.
The Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site is the only World Heritage Site in the East Midlands. It was inscribed onto UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 2001 as the 15 mile stretch of the Derwent Valley, from just south of Matlock Bath through to Derby, is the birthplace of the ‘modern’ factory system and the communities and infrastructure that were developed to support it. These technological interventions sit in the still recognisable and beautiful 18thcentury landscape into which they were inserted.
The Heritage Lottery Fund, Arts Council England and Historic England have awarded the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site Partnership a £1.5m Great Place scheme – Vital Valley.
