Are you a poet or spoken word artist?

Are you passionate about heritage and storytelling?

Do you have a connection to the area?

If so, we need your creative skills for 4 exciting commission opportunities to create a poem or spoken word piece that responds to a number of heritage themes as part of a heritage arts trail through Chesterfield town centre – ‘A Sense of Chesterfield’ project, supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

A Sense of Chesterfield will focus on celebrating the heritage of Chesterfield in unique and engaging ways in public spaces as part of the regeneration of the town centre. People will learn more about heritage through researching their place, collecting stories and then sharing these with a wider audience. It will be led by Chesterfield Borough Council and guided by a Project SteeringGroup.

Each poet/ spoken word artist will read their final piece for a digital recording to be listened to online. There will also be the opportunity to perform live at the launch of trail in autumn 2026.

A Sense of Chesterfield is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund, with thanks to The National Lottery players.
