Join artist Zachary Eastwood-Bloom on a walk around Dewsbury Town Centre to capture some of the town’s unique patterns and textures through photography and sketching. You’ll get a chance to chat to Zac about his project for Creative Town and go behind the scenes at the Arcade, Town Hall and Pioneer House.

All you’ll need is a camera/phone or pencil and paper can be provided. Zac will draw on his conversations with you and your photos/sketches of textures and patterns to feed into his design process.

About the Artist

Zachary principally makes sculpture but also video, dance, sound, photography, and drawings, exploring the notions of human progress in relation to historical ideas, scientific development, and digital technology, as well as the ways in which humans attempt to understand the world around them, using methods such as storytelling, religion, science, or technology. Zachary was born in Dewsbury, studied and worked at Batley School of Art, before studying ceramics at Edinburgh College of Art, and going to London to earn his Master’s Degree in ceramics and glass at the Royal College of Art. Whilst studying at the RCA, he began to explore the use of digital technologies in relation to a broad range of materials. This marks a shift in Zachary’s practice, in which he began using digital technologies in combination with sculpture and drawing in his practice.
