We’re delighted to share news of the launch of Public Art Catterick, a programme of playful and inviting artworks in public spaces that celebrate the natural world, build connections and encourage reflection.

This programme is part of a major scheme of regeneration works in Catterick Garrison Town Centre, North Yorkshire, which will reimagine the town for the future funded by UK Government, North Yorkshire Council & Ministry of Defence. Public Art Catterick is being produced by Beam.

➡️ #1 Entrance Markers & Orientation
We’re seeking an experienced public realm artist with a visual arts sculptural practice, to develop a vision and deliver a series of physical artwork features to highlight key entrance points to a new development on Shute Road and Coronation Park in Catterick Garrison and to creatively support orientation within the park and towards Richmond Road.
Budget: £50,000 + VAT if applicable
Timeframe: November 2024 – March 2026

➡️ #2 Community & Enterprise Centre Welcome
We’re seeking an experienced public realm visual artist with a 2D / Surface Design practice to create a large scale, 2D artwork panel, to be sited on a freestanding frame at the entrance to the new Catterick Community and Enterprise Building. The artwork should be vibrant, welcoming and inclusive, positively enhancing the new facility and signposting people into the new space, offering a warm and energising welcome.
Budget: £14,000 + VAT if applicable (Artwork panel only – frame to be funded externally).
Timeframe: November 2024 – March 2026

➡️ #3 Community & Enterprise Centre Glazing Canopy Design
We’re seeking an experienced glass artist / designer to design an impactful intervention for the glazing of the canopy to be sited on the east elevation of the new Community & Enterprise Centre building. The selected artist will be passionate about engaging communities to inspire and inform the design. This commission is for the artist fee for a glazing design only, with the fabrication and implementation being funded separately.
Budget: £9,000 + VAT if applicable

We’re seeking an experienced public realm artist with a visual arts sculptural practice, to create a contemporary artwork feature within the new public town square to encourage reflection, contemplation, support wellbeing and provide a focal point.
